Covid-safe Mediations
Over the course of 2020, we have all experienced some new ways of thinking and of doing our work and living our lives. This includes how we can continue to assist with people resolving their legal disputes and ensuring that people are not left ‘high and dry’ just because we cannot meet face-to-face for a period of time.
Over the past months, the team at Bento Family Law have conducted and engaged in many virtual mediations of all types. Sometimes when appropriate we have had our clients meet with us at safe, socially-distanced locations, and dialed into a conference with the other party. Other times, we have all been working remotely from each other. We are also familiar with all manner of video conference and teleconferencing systems including:
1. Zoom
2. Microsoft Teams
3. Webex
4. Skype
5. FaceTime
6. WeChat
7. WhatsApp
A virtual mediation can work just as well as an in-person mediation and in and of itself is not a reason to delay negotiating an end to your case. Of course you may have other reasons to delay that the pandemic has afforded, such as changes in asset values! Speak to our experts in family law now about some of the options that come up in the midst of a pandemic to help advance your case.
